| Biography: | Mike Hablewitz is a Manufacturing Specialist with Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) with over 30 years of experience in operations management. He has specific expertise in the areas of strategic planning; leading organization change; total quality management including implementing ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Systems; materials, supply and value chain management; team empowerment; and implementing focused factories utilizing lean manufacturing concepts. Mike received the prestigious Practitioner Award from the Modernization Forum, Manufacturing Extension Partnership, National Institute of Standard and Technology for his distinguished record of direct service to small and midsize manufacturers. Mike has degrees from the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) in Industrial Engineering and in Industrial Management; and a Masters in Management from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. Mike is a Certified Fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM) from the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS), past Vice President of Education and Research for International APICS; a senior member of Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME); and member of Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and American Society for Quality (ASQ). |

| Abstract: | This session will describe Value Stream mapping as an assessment and planning tool essential to implement a lean enterprise strategy. You will understand the Value Stream mapping process of defining value streams, creating a current state map, creating a future state map, planning for implementation and the benefits. Value Stream mapping is a lean tool that allows you to identify the current flow of information and material in processes for a family of products, highlighting the opportunities for improvement that will most significantly impact the overall production system. It will allow you to identify the waste in any part of the process that takes time and resources but adds no value.
