History of Madison Area Quality and Innovation

MAQIN: Madison Area Quality and Innovation Network

History

  • Founded in 1987 we are one of the oldest continuously operating community improvement organizations.
  • We are an independent organization supported primarily by membership dues and program revenues.
  • Our expansive program offerings are an evolution from the annual Hunter Conference, and we feature many aspects of the body of knowledge - from the improvement basics, Quality 101, all the way to the latest theory, practice and innovations.
  • We have outlived the many changes in buzzwords. What was Quality Improvement became TQM, which became process improvement, then business effectiveness and now business process management, and so on. At the heart of it all the principles of learning and improving are the same.
  • Our membership represents major employers from the Madison area, and organizations of all sizes and configurations. We welcome individuals as well.
  • Our membership reflects all business sectors: healthcare, service, technology, manufacturing, education, government, and non-profits.
  • Thousands of books, DVDs, videos and other resources are lent to members free of charge to ensure that learning remains at the heart of our organization.

With this history as our foundation, we move forward to the next generations of the improvement minded as the Wisconsin Center for Performance Excellence.
